šŸ” When a Lock Fails on Moving Day: A Quick Save in Bromsgrove

There’s never a good time for a lock to play up, but it’s hard to imagine a worse moment than the day you’re handing your keys back to the landlord. That was exactly the situation one customer found themselves in this week — and it’s the kind of call that reminds me why responsive, local locksmithing matters.

The Problem: A Door That Would Only Lock From the Outside

The customer had already packed up, cleaned the house, and was ready to return the keys. But there was one last hurdle: the front door would only lock from the outside. No matter what they tried, the key wouldn’t turn properly from the inside. With the handover deadline looming, they needed a fast, reliable fix.

Diagnosis: Something Stuck in the Keyway

Once on site, it didn’t take long to identify the culprit. Something had become lodged inside the keyway, preventing the cylinder from operating correctly. Issues like this can happen gradually or suddenly, but either way, they can leave you stuck at the worst possible moment.

The Solution: A Fresh Cylinder and New Keys

To guarantee a smooth and dependable fix — especially with the landlord expecting the keys back that day — I fitted a brand‑new cylinder and supplied fresh keys. No more sticking, no more uncertainty, and complete peace of mind for both tenant and landlord.

A Full Door Service While I Was There

I never like to leave a job half done. Once the new cylinder was in, I gave the front door a full service to ensure everything was aligned, smooth, and secure.

The customer also mentioned that the back door had been feeling a bit stiff recently. A quick service there too — lubrication, alignment checks, and minor adjustments — brought it back to life. Both doors now open, close, and lock exactly as they should.

A Relieved Customer and a Stress‑Free Handover

By the time I left, the customer had everything they needed: working locks, fresh keys, and the confidence to hand the property back without any last‑minute worries. Moving is stressful enough — your locks shouldn’t add to it.

If you ever find yourself in a similar situation, whether you’re moving out or simply dealing with a stubborn lock or stiff door, I’m always here to help.
